Students Chorally Recite Quran at Algiers Grand Mosque

IQNA – A group of Algerian students residing abroad recited verses from Surah Al-Kahf of the Quran together at the Grand Mosque of Algiers.

The Grand Mosque of Algiers, in coordination with the State Secretariat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responsible for the Algerian community abroad, on December 26, 2025, held a special program hosting 52 young Algerians residing abroad.

 

The Grand Mosque of Algiers, in coordination with the State Secretariat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responsible for the Algerian community abroad, on Friday held a special program hosting 52 young Algerians residing abroad, Al-Shorouk reported.

The program included a visit to the Grand Mosque of Algiers, where the visitors, who were Algerian students from a number of different countries around the world, were introduced to the different parts of the mosque and its scientific and cultural institutions.

An interactive scientific session was held in Arabic, English and French with the participation of professors and imams of the mosque, discussing the basis of the religious authority of Algeria and its characteristics based on moderation, the report said.

The choral recitation of Surah Al-Kahf by students before Friday prayers in the courtyard of the mosque was another part of the program.

The program ended with a meeting with Sheikh Muhammad Al-Ma’moon Al-Qasimi Al-Husani, the Imam of the Grand Mosque of Algiers.

 Located in the east of Algiers, the capital of Algeria, the Grand Mosque of Algiers is the third largest mosque in the Islamic world after the Grand Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina.

This minaret consists of 43 floors and has an elevator. The building of this mosque, with its Algerian Islamic architecture and prayer hall, is two hectares in size, with a capacity for 120,000 worshippers and a parking lot for 2,000 cars.
